British Prime Minister Liz Truss has no plans to resign. This was announced by a representative of the British prime minister, reports Reuters.

Truss herself has previously stated that she is a "fighter," not a "quitter." Truss is trying to gain support within the Conservative Party after she was forced to abandon a sweeping tax-cutting plan that prompted some Conservative lawmakers to call for her resignation just weeks after she took office.

She admitted that her radical economic plans went "too far and too fast."

Opinion polls show the Conservatives trailing the main opposition Labor Party by about 30 points, and Truss' own ratings are disastrous.

"I have been very clear that I am sorry and that I have made mistakes," Truss said in response to questions in Parliament. Truss said she's ready to make the tough decisions.

Speculation about the prime minister's future continues to grow, with media reports that rebellious conservatives are weighing who should replace her.

"I think her position is becoming increasingly untenable. We’ve seen a complete reversal of just about everything she stood for in her leadership election campaign," Conservative MP Steve Double told the Times Radio earlier. "I think many of us are asking exactly what does Liz Truss now believe and stand for because she seems to have abandoned virtually everything that she told us she was about."

Truss also faced ridicule from Labor leader Kier Starmer, who commented that a new book is being written about her time in office, due out by Christmas.
