The CSTO Interstate Commission for Military-Economic Cooperation has prepared a draft agreement on the standardization of military equipment, Deputy Secretary General of the CSTO Valery Semerikov said on Wednesday after a meeting of the commission, which was attended by representatives of the CSTO member countries.

"The draft agreement, which we have agreed on standardization of armament and military equipment... is a complicated document, it is subject to ratification, so we have worked very hard on it. "Today we've managed to finally agree upon it. We will submit it to our heads of the states for their approval and signing," said Semerikov, as reported by RIA Novosti.

He explained that when the CSTO countries analyzed the situation with the standardization of armament and equipment, with production, repair, modernization, and operation, it turned out that different states adopted "in general they are similar (standards), but there are certain differences in standards and approaches.  "Somewhere it is organized on the basis of specifications, somewhere on the basis of standards, so we have studied this situation in all the states and brought to a common denominator. We will be guided by common approaches on weapons and equipment. To all cycles of any facilities - aviation, armored vehicles, communications," he explained.
