The ultimate goal of the United States is a peaceful solution and resolution between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Vedant Patel, Principal Deputy Spokesperson at the Bureau of Global Public Affairs at the US Department of State, noted about this during Wednesday’s State Department press briefing—and when asked whether the deployment of EU mission observers on the Armenian-Azerbaijani border can contribute to the establishment of long-term peace in the region.

“That is our hope (…). And that is something that the [US] Secretary [of State Antony Blinken] and Ambassador [Philip] Reeker [the new US Senior Adviser for Caucasus Negotiations and new Co-Chair of the OSCE Minsk Group for the US] and others from in this building continue to push for as they discuss this issue. I don’t want to get ahead of that process, but of course our ultimate goal here is a peaceful solution and resolution between Armenia and Azerbaijan,” Patel said.
