The delegation from the United Arab Emirates, headed by President of the Sharjah Heritage Institute Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam, paid an official visit to Armenia at the invitation of Armenian Minister of Education, Science, Culture and Sports Vahram Dumanyan. The delegation was headed by Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam, the Chairman of the Sharjah Heritage Institute, the press service of the ministry informed NEWS.am.

The delegation included Ahmed Al-Dah, Director of International Relations of the Sharjah Heritage Institute, and Saif Al-Hajri, Deputy Director of International Relations.

The delegation arrived in Armenia on October 17 and will leave on October 21.

The UAE delegation was received by the head of the department Vahram Dumanyan. He stressed the importance of the strong friendly relations between the two nations and expressed gratitude for being received as a guest of honor at the annual festival " Sharjah Heritage Days".

Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam, chairman of the Sharjah Heritage Institute, expressed his gratitude for the warm welcome, stressing his readiness to deepen the existing relations. He noted the importance of implementing programs aimed at developing intercultural cooperation.

During their visit, the UAE delegation was also received by Karekin II, Catholicos of All Armenians, who expressed gratitude for the development and charitable programs implemented by the government of Sharjah in the country. The Catholicos underlined the necessity of preserving the Armenian cultural heritage in the territories under Azerbaijani control and asked for the support in this regard.

The UAE delegation was also received by Armenian President Vahagn Khachaturyan. He expressed his satisfaction with the agreements reached during the visit. Dr. Abdulaziz Al Musallam invited President Khachaturyan on behalf of the Government of Sharjah to take part in the festival "Sharjah Heritage Days" which is planned to be held in March 2023. According to him Armenia will be provided with a separate pavilion to present its cultural heritage.

The UAE delegation also met with the Deputy Prime Minister Hambardzum Matevosyan and discussed the issues of bilateral interest.

A meeting was also held with the YSU Rector Hovhannes Hovhannisyan, during which the possibilities to exchange experience in the sphere of education were discussed.

The UAE delegation visited Tsitsernakaberd Memorial Complex of Armenian Genocide Victims, the Museum-Institute of Genocide, the Hovhannes Sharambeyan Museum of Folk Art, the Museum of Armenian History and the Haghartsin Monastery Complex, which was completely renovated under the patronage of Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al-Qasimi.
