The Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin responded to the false statements and judgments of Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade, chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office, who spoke on Thursday at the third congress of religious leaders of the Organization of Turkic States in Baku and occupied Shushi.

"Allahshukur Pashazadeh once again made slanderous and false statements and judgments about the Karabakh conflict, alleged ethnic cleansing, destruction of Turkic-Islamic cultural and spiritual heritage, usurpation of holy places, Azerbaijani pacifism and Armenian revanchism, about which the state and spiritual structures of the Armenian side have repeatedly given answers and explanations," the statement of the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin says. It is also noted that Pashazadeh did not scruple to address the accusations against the Armenian Church as well. "It is strange that after the war unleashed by Azerbaijan against the people of Karabakh in 2020 and the inhuman atrocities committed, the provocative speech of Sheikh ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazade has not changed a bit. The Chairman of the Caucasian Muslims Office, who allegedly speaks about the importance of the peaceful coexistence of peoples, contrary to the spirit of the messages adopted at the tripartite meetings of the spiritual leaders, at the same time is silent about the ongoing aggression and Armenophobia by Azerbaijan, incursions into the sovereign territory of Armenia, daily provocations at the borders, shelling of peaceful settlements , illegal detentions of Armenian prisoners of war and facts of torture, brutal murders and desecration of the bodies of victims, violation of the right of the people of Karabakh to freedom and independent life, destruction and appropriation of the Armenian cultural, historical and spiritual heritage, which are clearly and reasonably documented by the international community and structures,” emphasized in the Mother See of Holy Etchmiadzin.

Holy Etchmiadzin called upon Sheikh-ul-Islam Allahshukur Pashazadeh to take visible steps toward the resolution of these humanitarian problems.
