YEREVAN.  – The Ambassador of Armenia to Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ashot Hovakimian (diplomatic residence: Prague), presented his credentials to the Chairman of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sefik Dzaferovic, reports from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Armenia.

Dzaferovic wished success to the newly appointed ambassador, expressing his belief that the bilateral political dialogue, economic and cultural ties will develop between the two countries. Expressing gratitude for the reception, Ambassador Hovakimian reaffirmed his commitment to contribute to the development of relations between the two countries and their cooperation in international organizations.

The ambassador congratulated Bosnia and Herzegovina for the prospect of obtaining the status of an EU candidate country. During the private conversation, the ambassador of Armenia presented the realities following the 44-day Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) war in the fall of 2020, the current situation and existing challenges, and the consequences of the September military aggression by Azerbaijan against the sovereign territory of Armenia. In response, Dzaferovic noted that Bosnia and Herzegovina has always been a supporter of peaceful settlement of conflicts—and according to the principles of the UN Charter.

Also, the Ambassador of Armenia visited the Sarajevo City Hall, where he had a meeting with Mayor Benjamina Karic—and regarding the establishment of partnership relations between Yerevan and Sarajevo.
