Saudi Arabia's Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman has been criticizing U.S. President Joe Biden in private conversations, mocking him and questioning his intelligence, The Wall Street Journal reported, citing unnamed individuals in the kingdom's government.

According to interlocutors, the crown prince told advisers that he much preferred to work with previous U.S. President Donald Trump and that Biden had not impressed him back when he was vice president under Barack Obama (2009-2017).

Besides, Biden angered the crown prince by mentioning human rights abuses in Saudi Arabia and the 2018 death of journalist Jamal Khashoggi in a conversation during a meeting in July, the newspaper said. The paper's sources among Saudi officials said they were disappointed that oil and security were the key issues in relations with Western countries.

Riyadh rejected the WSJ's findings.

These claims made by anonymous sources are completely false. The kingdom's leaders have always treated U.S. presidents with the utmost respect, based on a belief in the importance of a relationship based on mutual respect, said Saudi Foreign Minister Faisal bin Farhan.

At a White House briefing, spokeswoman Karine Jean-Pierre initially declined to comment on the WSJ information, but then, according to the New York Post, called the data ridiculous statements.
