The Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of Azerbaijan has issued another statement attempting to manipulate the facts.

"By violating the trilateral statement of November 10, 2020, Armenia continues the illegal military operation on the territory of Azerbaijan," the statement said. "Armenia not only does not withdraw its armed forces from the territory of Azerbaijan, but also continues to place a larger number of landmines in its territory. This leads to an increase in the number of people exploding on landmines—and not only along the former line of contact."

"The delivery of anti-personnel mines from Armenia to Azerbaijan after the end of the war [in the fall of 2020] once again shows that the Armenians have used the Lachin corridor for illegal military activities, although according to point 6 of the trilateral statement, the Lachine corridor shall be used for the passage of people, vehicles, and civilian cargo. The MFA of Azerbaijan also draws attention to the fact that the reason for the large-scale sabotage of the units of the Armenian Armed Forces on September 12-13 was the attempts of Armenians to mine the supply routes and sites between the positions of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces," asserts the MFA of Azerbaijan, at the same time accusing the Armenian side of the inaccuracy of the submitted maps of the minefields.

In the end, the MFA of Azerbaijan "calls on the world community to put pressure on Armenia to fulfill its obligations under the terms of the trilateral statement and within the framework of international law, to stop steps against the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Azerbaijan, to withdraw the armed forces from the territory of Azerbaijan, to stop land-mining activities in their territory, in order to provide accurate maps. These steps would contribute to ensuring peace and tranquility in the region."

Thus, presenting its own military aggression against Armenia this September as "an attempt by Armenians to mine the supply routes," promoting the issue of landmines and questioning the humanitarian importance of the Lachin corridor in every possible way, Azerbaijan is attempting to create an informational pretext for encroaching on the road connecting Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) with the outside world. It is obvious that the reason for such brazen behavior is the insufficient international pressure on Azerbaijan and the West's attempts to settle the aggressor's guilt in exchange for natural gas, electricity, and oil.
