Armenian-Russian allied relations are regressing, and this is recorded by the active efforts of the Armenian authorities, Armenian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Dzyunik Aghajanyan told NEWS.am.

"Obviously, a program is being implemented. We encountered this problem in May last year. After that the same attempt was made in November very unexpectedly at the level of statements in the National Assembly. However, geopolitical events did not allow us to clearly advance the intended program. Now this program is moving very quickly.

By encouraging anti-Russian sentiments, including through the constant involvement of anti-Russian individuals, an attempt is being made to negate the role of Russia, one of the most important geopolitical centers and one of the most important factors in our region, and to withdraw it from the region.

Changing the foreign policy vector is one of the tools of this project, which aims to put the Caspian resources and its transit routes under Western control. To achieve this goal, an operation is carried out to destroy Russia and Iran. In this case, Armenia has always been the wedge that held the regional balance. After removing this wedge from the current Armenian authorities, we saw a violation of the balance, an actual surrender of Artsakh, which de facto frees the region from so-called conflicts, opening an even path to integration with the West," the ambassador said.

In her assessment, Armenia became a tool in the hands of the West in 2018, through the "velvet revolution."

"The current authorities were brought in precisely to implement this program. In this region, until 2018, Armenia was the only country that held the balance and did not allow this conflict. Moreover, the opposing forces even cooperated in the format of the OSCE MG. The current Armenian authorities have begun the process of dismantling the pillars of the existing balance. At present, the vector is being diverted.

So far, Russia has tried to neutralize these phenomena, perhaps also naively believing that the current Armenian authorities are resorting to such steps purely out of inexperience, and that they can be put on the right track. Let's hope they understand that this is a clearly pursued policy. Under these conditions, Russia can do a lot, but it still has not lost hope that it can somehow keep these processes under control, which I do not hope for. The sooner Russia comes to its senses, the sooner our people will understand that they are led to the brink of losing their statehood, annihilating the nation, genocide of Artsakh people and full domination of the Turkish factor here, which will lead to the annihilation of an entire nation.

The West mistakenly thinks it can control Turkey. Taking advantage of the West's green light, which we saw vividly during the 44-day war, when the NATO Secretary General visited Turkey and met with its leadership on October 5 and took no deterrent steps. On the contrary, Turkey's direct involvement at the front followed exactly 10 days later. In this situation, expecting the West to somehow restrain Turkey is a misunderstanding," Aghajanyan said.

She is convinced that Armenia must adopt a very cautious, reasonable and prudent policy. No one helps a weak state. "The version of the Armenian-Azerbaijani peace treaty presented by the West is a disaster for us. The West doesn't need a strong Armenia, but the West doesn't need a completely enslaved Armenia, because they know very well that in this case the Armenians will revolt and move in the opposite direction. They need a very weakened Armenia, clearly submitting to their will," concluded the ambassador.
