In 2023, the amount of financial aid allocated to Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) from the state budget of Armenia will not change; it will total about 144 billion drams. Minister of Finance Tigran Khachatryan said this in the National Assembly, at Monday’s joint session of parliamentary standing committees, during the debates on the draft 2023 state budget.

According to the minister, the amount of this assistance will be virtually the same as in 2022. Moreover, last year, part of this financial assistance to Karabakh was one-time, and these funds were spent on infrastructure restoration, as well as housing construction.

"It is also necessary to note that the noted expenses will not be so big in 2023. Thanks to that, the aid received in Karabakh will be able to be directed to other types of expenses," Khachatryan explained.

He informed that the Ministry of Finance of Armenia frequently discusses the situation with its Karabakh colleagues.

"Funding is increased as needed. Thus, during 2022, an additional 20 billion drams were allocated in the form of assistance. Such decisions can be taken in 2023 as well," concluded the minister of finance of Armenia.
