Six Minsk residents have been detained for hanging a Ukrainian flag and a white-red-white flag - a symbol of the Belarusian opposition on a power line pole, the press service of the Belarusian Interior Ministry reported.
"Six Minsk residents were detained for the protest action. In early October in the Moscow district of the capital, unknown persons hung a cloth of white-red-white coloring and the flag of Ukraine on a power line pole. During the investigative measures, the police detained six Minsk citizens aged 34 to 36," said in a statement, published on Telegram.
As noted in the Belarusian Interior Ministry, according to the defendants, they made a joint decision to hold a protest action.
"It was established that the detainees were members of illegal telegram channels, communicated in district chats, and participated in protest actions in 2020," the report says.
Investigators opened a criminal case for hooliganism, the Interior Ministry noted.
