The aim of the trilateral talks is the implementation of all the agreements reached in 2020 and 2021, Russian President Vladimir Putin said at a meeting with his Azerbaijani counterpart Ilham Aliyev in Sochi.
"As a matter of fact, this is a meeting organized on your [initiative] and on the initiative of the Armenian prime minister - and it is in Sochi, where, apparently, you were counting on the good Sochi weather, but it does not work, autumn. Nevertheless, the meeting, in my opinion, is important. The purpose of this meeting, as I see it, is to ensure the implementation of all our agreements, which were reached in 2020 and 2021.
You have repeatedly noted that Russia has played a prominent role in resolving the conflict, our peacekeeping contingent is now carrying out its mission as we should. I am grateful to you for these assessments.
Today we must discuss the situation that has developed to this day and look for a way to resolve the issues that have not yet been resolved. In this regard, I would also like to mention an important economic component. We have set up a trilateral working group headed by the deputy prime ministers of the three countries. They have progressed far enough in terms of the issues that we talked about two years ago. Here, too, it is probably necessary to give additional impetus. I know that the Azerbaijani side is working quite actively in that vein. The range of issues is quite large. I am very glad to see you. Welcome," Putin said at the beginning of the negotiations.
