The Special Forces of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces have started exercises near the country's southern borders. The exercises are conducted in accordance with the combat training plan for 2022 and are led by Commander of Special Forces Lieutenant General Hikmet Mirzeyev, local media reported quoting the Ministry of Defense.

"According to the exercise plan, the military units were raised on the "Alert" signal. After the special troops left their permanent deployment points and moved to the operational areas, the commanders' reports were heard and the tasks were specified. The units and subunits of the air force and rocket and artillery forces involved in the exercise were concentrated in their respective airfields and areas. Interaction with other kinds of troops has been organized," the ministry notes.

During further stages of the exercises, special task force units will carry out a number of tasks in cooperation with the air force and rocket-artillery troops supporting them.

At the end of October, the IRGC conducted a large-scale military exercise on the border with Azerbaijan, which included a crossing of the Arax River.
