North Korea carried out three suspected ballistic missile launches in one day, said the Japanese Coast Guard.
Japanese authorities are now clarifying the details of the DPRK's missile launches. The office of Prime Minister Fumio Kishida has set up an emergency headquarters to collect information in connection with the launches.
Earlier, the Coast Guard reported that the trajectory of the first missile passed through the country's airspace near the prefectures of Miyagi, Niigata, and Yamagata. Japan's Defense Minister Yasukazu Hamada later denied this information, saying that the missile landed in the Sea of Japan. The defense chief also said that one of the two missiles then launched flew a distance of 750 kilometers, and its maximum flight altitude was 2,000 kms.
