Armenia will open diplomatic representations in several countries in 2023. This includes embassies, consulates and diplomatic missions, Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said during the discussion of the 2023 state budget draft on Thursday in the National Assembly at the joint session of the parliamentary standing committees.

At the moment, as the diplomat noted, it is planned to open embassies in Uruguay and consulates in a number of countries. "Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said during the discussion of the 2023 state budget on November 3 at the National Assembly of the Republic of Armenia.

At the moment, the diplomat said, there are plans to open an embassy in Uruguay, as well as a consulate general in Tabriz of the Islamic Republic of Iran. "Iran recently opened a consulate general in Kapan. An agreement was reached between us long ago to open an Armenian consulate in Tabriz. As for the opening of the embassy in Uruguay, the agreement was reached during the visit of the Uruguayan Foreign Minister to Armenia. That is last year. Presence of the embassy in Uruguay will enable us to establish relations with other Latin American countries as well," Mirzoyan said.

Armenia also plans to open diplomatic representations. In Cyprus it will function under Armenia's embassy in Greece. Dipreepresentations will be also opened in Belgrade, capital city of Serbia (under Armenian embassy in Czech Republic).

The Foreign Minister made a special reference to the traditionally warm relations between Armenia and Cyprus.

"It may seem strange for many people that there hasn't been such a representation in Cyprus until now. I see prospects for the development of relations with Serbia as well. It opened an embassy in Yerevan. Armenia will open a diplomatic mission in Serbia on the basis of reciprocity. We will also open a consulate in Vladikavkaz. Issues related to "Upper Lars" have played a major role in this decision," Armenian Foreign Minister concluded.
