Turkey and Russia have agreed to supply food to needy countries free of charge, President Recep Tayyip Erdogan claimed Friday.

"During our talks with [Russian President Vladimir] Putin, we agreed to send grain to needy countries for free. We agree with Putin that Africa should benefit from the Black Sea grain corridor. We will ensure that dry cargoes of grain reach the countries currently suffering from a severe food crisis and starvation," the Turkish leader stressed.

According to Erdogan, he also discussed this with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres. In addition, the president announced his intentions to raise the issue of food supply in Africa at the upcoming G20 summit in Bali.

Erdogan said Western attempts to teach lessons of humanity while ignoring human suffering in Africa are a disgrace.
