Russian President Vladimir Putin has ordered the evacuation of Kherson residents from the war zone, RIA Novosti reported.

"The civilian population should not suffer from shelling, some offensive and counteroffensive, other activities related to military actions," he said.

The Russian leader also noted the actions of volunteers who help civilians get out of danger zones.

The deputy head of the regional administration, Kirill Stremousov, previously reported that clashes in this part of the front might intensify in the next week and a half to two weeks. All attempts by the Ukrainian Armed Forces to break through the line of defense are being repelled, and Ukrainian troops continue to suffer heavy losses.
