YEREVAN. – Hraparak daily of Armenia writes: After the Russo-Ukrainian war, when the West imposed economic sanctions on Russia, they began to carefully monitor to what extent Armenia adheres to the regime of these restrictions.

The main target was the Armenian banking system, and the main supervisor—the US ambassador to Armenia—who, according to news, regularly visited the Central Bank [(CB)], met with bankers and the CB governor and warned them not to work against the sanctions, not to help the strategic ally from below, to join the anti-Russian sanctions. As a result of that, the banks [in Armenia] increased transaction commissions, started creating obstacles for those coming from Russia and their bank transfers.

The governor of the CB, Martin Galstyan, saw a "yellow" tone in this question of ours and said: "As for the meetings with the US ambassador, the ambassadors of Russia, France, Italy and other countries, it seems to me that the principle of parity is preserved. They are meetings that take place once or twice a year; that is, I believe that I have met with the Russian ambassador more than the ambassador off America.”
