A few months before the start of a special military operation in Ukraine, Iran supplied Russia with a "limited number" of drones Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said, Fars news agency reported.
"This fuss made by some Western countries that Iran has provided missiles and drones to Russia to help the war in Ukraine - the missile part is completely wrong," the official IRNA news agency quoted him as saying.
"The drone part is true and we provided Russia a small number of drones months before the Ukraine war," he said.
The day before, Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Nasser Kanani said that Tehran is calling on Kiev to hold a bilateral meeting at the level of experts to study data on the use of Iranian drones in Ukraine.
Previously, the Iranian Foreign Ministry stated that Tehran does not send weapons to the parties to the conflict in Ukraine, and Iran's foreign policy is based on the rejection of military action. Tehran has also repeatedly expressed its readiness to resolve the conflict in Ukraine peacefully.
