It was planned to increase the wheat sowing areas in Armenia, but this did not happen due to Azerbaijan's military aggression. Minister of Economy Vahan Kerobyan stated this in the National Assembly (NA), at Monday’s joint session of NA standing committees, during the latter’s debates on the draft 2023 state budget of Armenia.

According to the minister, it was with respect to 75 thousand hectares. Now, due to safety reasons, there is low development activity in those areas—especially in Syunik and Gegharkunik Provinces—, and this, as per Kerobyan, prevents reaching the planned indicator.

"Also, the government has developed and implemented a large investment program in the field of livestock breeding, for which 3.5 billion drams are planned to be allocated in 2023; this will enable to increase the level of self-sufficiency of livestock products," the economy minister assured.
