YEREVAN. – Past daily of Armenia writes: On October 28-31, the [first] Global Armenian Summit was held in Yerevan, in which our compatriots from the diaspora participated. According to the information of Past newspaper, there were serious problems in organizing it.
The task of organizing the summit was initially entrusted to diaspora affairs commissioner Zareh Sinanyan, but he completely failed the process, as he was unable to organize meetings of the appropriate level in the [Armenian] diaspora and ensure the full participation of Armenian lobby circles in the summit.
According to our sources, Sinanyan was not able to get in touch not only with the influential representatives of the Armenian communities in Europe, but he was not able to work together with famous Armenian organizations and influential Armenians even in his "own" USA; they simply turned Sinanyan down. As for the RF [(Russian Federation)] where the largest Armenian diaspora is, he was not able to hold any meetings [there] at all.
The source of the newspaper also conveys that the invitation of Armenia’s authorities was harshly turned down by the [Armenian] traditional [political] parties, which, as is known, were always present in the implementation of all pan-Armenian projects. According to our information, the [Armenian] authorities had to actively engage the MFA to be able to get some results through the embassies.
