Turkey is not going to focus only on the supply of Russian gas, bets on other suppliers, including the United States, said the country's Energy and Natural Resources Minister Fatih Donmöz.

"Russia is an important energy supplier, which until recently covered up to a third of Europe's gas demand. As for Turkey, Russian gas accounts for at least 40% of our country's consumption. However, we are not going to concentrate on just one source. We are betting on Iran, Azerbaijan, Iraq in the future, and the UAE, Qatar and Oman for LNG. At the same time, we are actively trading LNG with Algeria and even Nigeria. If necessary, we buy LNG from the U.S," Anadolu Agency quotes Donmöz as saying.

Russia is one of the main gas suppliers to Turkey. Earlier, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu said that the country's demand for Russian gas is 44 percent.
