The Azerbaijani occupation covers 2,700 hectares of the Kapan community of Armenia's Syunik Province, Arman Tatoyan, the founder of the Tatoyan Foundation and former Ombudsman of the Republic of Armenia, told journalists today.

Particularly, as the ex-ombudsman said, the problem is about 2,400 hectares of specially protected, 170 hectares of forest and 130 hectares of community lands. In addition to these 2,700 hectares, another 1,140 hectares are in the danger zone. It is impossible to carry out agricultural works there. "For example, most of the agricultural land in the village of Nerqin Hand is in the interposition zones. The drinking water sources of the village have fallen under the Azerbaijani occupation. Because of this, the residents of the community simply do not have access to drinking or irrigation water. 300 hectares of land in Geghanush and Gomaran villages are also located in inter-position zones, in connection with which local herdsmen no longer use them," Tatoyan said.
