A joint session of the Armenian National Assembly Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration and the Russian State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots was held, the Armenian NA press service reports.

"This year is significant for us as we mark the 30th anniversary of establishing diplomatic relations between Armenia and the Russia, as well as the 25th anniversary of the treaty on friendship, cooperation and mutual assistance between Armenia and Russia. These events started the current stage of the development of the Armenian-Russian allied relations, which meets the vital interests of our peoples," the Deputy Chairman of the NA Standing Committee on Regional and Eurasian Integration Artak Hakobyan noted on Thursday.

Welcoming the participants, the deputy chairman of the commission informed that today's meeting will discuss the prospects and priorities of the EAEC development in the framework of parliamentary cooperation in a period of current global challenges, as well as issues related to the only land border crossing "Upper Lars" connecting the two countries. Noting that during the recent months problems have emerged here once again, Mr. Hakobyan expressed hope that during the meeting they could clearly, in detail and consistently outline the presented problems, find rational solutions and outline new vectors of effective and constructive cooperation. He also touched upon the regional situation and Armenia's security problems. Particularly, the consequences of the Azerbaijani aggression against Armenian territorial integrity on September 13th were presented.

First Deputy Chairman of Russian State Duma Committee on CIS Affairs, Eurasian Integration and Relations with Compatriots Taysaev thanked for warm reception and noted the positive experience of effective cooperation between the two countries. The allied and partnership relations of the two countries are based on the centuries-old traditions of friendship, close brotherly bonds and mutual assistance. He also expressed confidence that appropriate solutions will be given to the problems arising as a result of joint discussions.

At the end of the joint session V. Hakobyan and K. Taysaev made statements, presenting to the journalists the issues discussed during the meeting.
