The Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in the Russian Federation made a statement concerning the demonstration of the documentary film on November 9, 2022 in the pavilion "Azerbaijan" on the territory of VDNKh.

"The Embassy of the Republic of Armenia in the Russian Federation expresses its deep disappointment with the screening of the film shot by the Azerbaijani film producer Arzu Aliyeva on the aggression against the peaceful population of Nagorno-Karabakh (Artsakh) in autumn of 2020, later called the 44-day war, on the territory of the All-Russian Exhibition Center (VDNKh) on 9 November 2022.

This action is seen as a blatant provocation aimed at inciting ethnic hatred and undermining the numerous efforts made in recent years to prevent further escalation of tensions between Armenia and Azerbaijan, as well as between the communities of the two countries on Russian territory.

The documentary film with the odious title "Shusha, you are free" is yet another Armenian-hating product of Azerbaijani propaganda, which not only insults the feelings of the large Armenian community living in Russia, their compatriots in the Republic of Armenia and Nagorno-Karabakh, but also represents an obvious manual for Azerbaijani youth who continue to be nurtured on hatred and xenophobia.

Obviously, by such actions the Azerbaijani side is trying to justify in the eyes of the international community the gravest war crimes committed against the people of Nagorno-Karabakh and their defenders both during the war in 2020 and the subsequent events in 2021-2022, the continuing acts of vandalism in the territory of Nagorno-Karabakh, occupied during the aggression.

The Azerbaijani side has intentionally chosen the site of its pavilion on the territory of All-Russia Exhibition Center - VDNKh, intending to discredit not only beloved exhibition center, preaching the ideas of friendship and cooperation between peoples but also the country, thanks to whose efforts Armenia and Azerbaijan decided to choose the path to peace and good neighborliness," the Embassy said in its statement.
