The U.S. Department of Commerce is ceasing to consider Russia as a country with a market economy in its anti-dumping procedures, RBC reports.

The agency said in a statement that it found extensive interference by the Russian government in the national economy. This gives the United States the right to "use the full rigor of U.S. anti-dumping laws to correct market distortions" caused by this interference.

The U.S. recognized Russia as a market economy in 2002. This status is important for Russian exporters because it makes it much more difficult to impose anti-dumping duties against them.
