Princess Haya, a half-sister of King Abdullah II of Jordan and the former wife of Dubai Emir Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, is seeking asylum in Wales, the Daily Mail reported.

Princess Haya of Jordan, intimidated by her ex-husband, Dubai Emir Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum, is staying in Wales, where she plans to buy a country house. With her in Britain are their children, 15-year-old Al-Jalilah and 12-year-old Zayed.

Princess Haya married Dubai's Emir Mohammed bin Rashid al-Maktoum in 2004, becoming the sheikh's sixth and youngest wife. In 2007, the couple had a daughter, Al-Jalilah, and in 2010 a son, Zayed, was born.

In 2019, she and her children fled from her husband to Germany and then to Great Britain. According to media reports, he suspected her of cheating with a British security guard, after which she began to fear for her life. The sheikh is known to have organized the kidnapping of his daughters, Princesses Latifa and Shamsa, who accused their father of violence and attempted to flee. They were returned to Dubai, where they are being held against their will.

The girl's half-brother, King Abdullah II of Jordan, appointed her deputy chief of mission of the Jordanian embassy in Great Britain to ensure her and her children diplomatic immunity.

In 2021, a British court ordered Mohammed ibn Rashid al-Maktoum to pay Haya $730 million in moral damages as well as nearly $4 million for the education of their Al-Jalilah and Zayed and over $12.5 million in arrears. The children will receive $13 million each year when they come of age.

In March, Haya won sole custody of the children.
