At the beginning of the Sochi meeting with the Russian president and the working discussion in the trilateral format, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan  said that he was then ready to sign a paper on the extension of the Russian peacekeepers in Nagorno-Karabakh, but there was no mutual understanding, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told Armenia's Public TV Channel on Friday.

"The statement of the Azerbaijani president on November 8 is a violation of the Sochi statement, because only 8 days ago he signed a statement that the activities of peacekeepers are necessary to ensure stability. And now 8 days later he speaks in language that contradicts this logic.

Is it theoretically possible that Russian peacekeepers will not be needed after 2025? Theoretically yes, it is possible, if all the guarantees related to the security of the rights of the Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh are created, and these guarantees must not only be created, but also verified by life. The Russian peacekeepers cannot leave without a clear formulation of such guarantees, because they were deployed along the line of contact between Nagorno-Karabakh and the Lachin corridor on the basis of the decision adopted by the Federal Council of the Russian Federation.

This decision says that the peacekeepers are deployed to prevent and prevent massacres of the civilian population of Nagorno-Karabakh. Theoretically, if Russia decides to leave, it can't just leave until it creates additional guarantees for that mission," Pashinyan said, adding that if Russia wants to take such a step, it should apply to the UN Security Council, which should decide the issue.
