The Armenian side supports the Russian proposals presented by OSCE Minsk Group co-chair Igor Khovayev, Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan told Armenia's Public TV Channel on Friday.
"Does it remain a working document for today? We should ask the Russian side about that," Pashinyan said.
The PM noted that in working discussions the proposal was called the "Khovayev document."
"It was named after the Russian co-chair of the OSCE Minsk Group. Nevertheless, we are, in fact, dealing with the proposal of the Russian leadership. The proposal is that the issue of Karabakh's final status should be postponed for a while," the Prime Minister explained.
According to the Prime Minister, at the last meeting with the Russian President in Sochi - both the public and the private part of it - he said in particular that he supports this document.
"I want it, with the participation of the President of Azerbaijan, to be referred to in the final tripartite statement. However, as a result of the discussions, the Russian partners called for the adoption of wording stating that the steps to establish relations will be continued on the basis of previously adopted developments.
In practice, one of these developments is precisely the mentioned document. Our Russian partners came to the conclusion that at this stage a reference in this format could be considered sufficient, and we agreed to this simply in order not to create a deadlock and not to be the only party preventing the adoption of a new trilateral statement. We ended up with a document that everyone agreed with and found useful," Pashinyan added.
Answering the journalist's question whether the Russian version is still in the appeal, the PM said that Russia should answer that first of all.
"We asked about it and received an answer, but since the topic became public after the Russian President's statement made at the Valdai Forum, I address this question to the Russian side," Pashinyan added.
