Friday night, a number of Armenian citizens received a letter from Apple that they were the victims of an attack by national hackers. Samvel Martirosyan, an information security expert, wrote about this on Facebook Saturday.
"(…) we are aware of about ten [such] people. Among them are journalists, high-ranking officials, well-known opposition figures. We have managed to inspect two [smart]phones. Pegasus spyware was found on one. One was clean, but the person in question had just changed the [smart]phone, so the information could have been about the virus in the previous [smart]phone.
We cannot say for sure which country the virus came from, or whether it is from one country, but rather we are dealing with several viruses. That is, what I am saying is that we don’t know whether it is the special services of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Turkey, or all of them together and mixed. We know for sure that it is a national matter, as Pegasus is sold only to state institutions," Martirosyan added, in particular.
