Armenia is facing serious national security issues since a Hydro Power Plant in Jermuk: the “Tatev” Hydro Power Plant; the tailings dump of Geghanush in Kapan; the “Syunik” airport and other strategic objects are under the Azerbaijani armed direct target. Arman Tatoyan, Director of the "Tatoyan" Foundation Center for Law and Justice and the former ombudsman of Armenia, stated about this on Facebook.

“To illustrate the degree of danger, it can be mentioned that, for example, the tailings of the Kapan mining and processing plant, which contain heavy metals, accumulate in the Geghanush tailings dump. These substances pose a huge threat to the environment and human health.

Facts prove that Azerbaijan has no intention of removing its armed locations from the occupied territories of Armenia and from our villages and roads. It only strengthens its unlawful locations.

We repeat again that the primary goal of our country is to solve this problem urgently. Without it, in the current conditions, real peace is not possible.

The current situation is not an accident. This is a deliberate criminal policy of Azerbaijani state policy of animosity, that has no goal of peace.

It is true, the idea of a demilitarized security zone that I have put forward since December 2020 is realistic,” Tatoyan added.
