Armenian National Assembly Speaker Alen Simonyan addressed a meeting of young deputies of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly on Sunday, the press service of the parliament reported.

Addressing the gathering, Simonyan noted that in 2018, the driving force behind the Velvet Revolution was young people who raised their voices in defense of democratic values.

"After the revolution, democratic values are our top priority: the world is already talking about Armenian democracy," he stressed.

Alen Simonyan stressed the importance of parliamentary diplomacy, including the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, as a platform for confidence building in the OSCE region.

Referring to the new stage of the large-scale aggression of Azerbaijani armed forces against the sovereign territory of Armenia on September 13, Alen Simonyan said: "We are really and sincerely committed to the peaceful agenda, which is a guarantee for the peaceful development and coexistence of the Republic of Armenia and the region."
