Chinese President Xi Jinping said in a meeting with U.S. President Joe Biden that China does not intend to challenge or displace the United States, the Chinese Foreign Ministry reported.
China has never sought to change the international order, it does not interfere in the internal affairs of the United States and it has no intention to challenge or oust the United States, Xi Jinping said.
Earlier, China Central Television reported that the bilateral meeting between Chinese President Xi Jinping and U.S. President Joe Biden ended on the sidelines of the G20 summit in Indonesia. It lasted 3 hours and 12 minutes and was the first face-to-face meeting between Xi Jinping and Biden since Biden took over as U.S. president. The last time they met in person was in 2017 in Davos, when Biden was U.S. vice president.
