Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has been paid £276,000 to speak to US insurers just a month after he left Downing Street, PA Media reports.

Johnson at a conference organized by the Council of Insurance Agents and Brokers (CIAB) in October, giving a 30-minute speech and holding a 45-minute fireside chat at an event in Colorado Springs.

Reports said he was paid about $150,000 for the speech, but an update of the deputy's registry of interests released Thursday showed the full payment was £276,130.

Johnson's registry entry said he and two employees were paid for transportation and housing. It is noted that the money was received in exchange for eight hours and 30 minutes of work, so his hourly rate was nearly £32,500.
