Ukraine's government has warned Western allies that it expects Russia's attacks on its energy infrastructure to intensify in the coming days and Kyiv does not have enough spare parts to resume heat and power supplies in this case, Politico reports, citing two congressional representatives.

Ukrainian officials in recent days have asked their U.S. counterparts and more than half a dozen European countries for help in preparing for an extended period with cutoff electricity and gas, a scenario that Kyiv expects will make fighting on the ground more difficult and displace civilians.

Ukraine needs key components, such as generators, pipes and valves, to repair its infrastructure. Kyiv is currently trying to repair the damaged infrastructure, but fears that ongoing Russian attacks will make this nearly impossible.
