Assistant to the President of Azerbaijan and Head of the Department of Foreign Affairs of the Presidential Administration Hikmet Hajiyev met with Iranian Ambassador Abbas Mousavi, the Iranian Ambassador himself said, haqqin.az reported.
According to Musavi, the meeting discussed issues of mutual interest and stressed the need to develop bilateral relations.
Meanwhile, MP Fazil Mustafa told the media that "the hostility of Iran towards Azerbaijan is increasingly evident. It is necessary to have a serious conversation with the adherents of the influence of the Islamic Republic in Azerbaijan."
"Regarding our southern neighbors, we have repeatedly stated: a large number of Azerbaijani citizens visiting Iran for tourism, education or religious purposes are thoroughly brainwashed or blackmailed there by various means," the deputy noted. " As a result, these people start working for the special services of Iran. Their statements and ideology are directed against the Azerbaijani state. They claim that Shusha was liberated by Huseynists, while Azerbaijan is ruled by the Zionists."
Fazil Mustafa noted that in the past, even some heads of official institutions in Azerbaijan were connected to Iranian special services. However, due to the lack of proper attention to this issue, it was difficult to identify them. And today, according to the deputy, people actively defending Iran's position in social networks still occupy serious positions.
"The toughest and strongest measures should be taken against the pro-Iranian forces entrenched in the state," says Fazil Mustafa. "Today we must directly ask the traitors who advertise Iran on every corner and set it as an example to us: "Who are you with! With Iran, which prevents the opening of the Zangezur corridor and blocks our way to Turkey? Then leave and live in Iran! Just think it over! Because the motherland will not take you back."
