Poland's decision to refuse Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov's participation in a meeting of the OSCE Ministerial Council (MCM) to be held in Lodz on December 1-2 is unprecedented and provocative, the Russian Foreign Ministry said on Saturday.

"It is incompatible with the status of chairmanship of the organization, in which 57 countries participate as sovereign and independent states in full equality. It violates the rules of procedure of the OSCE and the decisions of its decision-making bodies, in particular the decision of the OSCE Ministerial Council in Porto (2002) on the principles of the OSCE Chairman-in-Office," reads the statement posted on the official website of the authority.

On Friday all the OSCE participating states were asked about the inadmissibility of such actions.

"We are convinced that all sensible politicians share Russia's position on the inadmissibility of such actions and will give them a principled assessment," the Russian Foreign Ministry stressed.

The Foreign Ministry also reported that the Russian delegation will be headed by Alexander Lukashevich, permanent representative to the OSCE.

The day before, on November 18, some media reported, quoting Polish Foreign Ministry spokesman Lukasz Jasina, that Warsaw would not allow the Russian delegation to attend the OSCE Ministerial Council meeting.
