Five activists from the "Last Generation" environmental movement spilled orange paint on the facade of the Senate building in Rome, according to the Italian newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano.

According to the newspaper, the eco-activists were detained by police guarding the Senate's Palazzo Madama.

The environmentalists motivated their action by desperation because of alarming data on climate collapse, and the disinterest of politicians in the face of what could be the largest genocide in history.
