The death toll of the earthquakes that hit Turkey has reached 18,342.
"According to the latest data, 18,342 of our citizens were killed, 74,242 people were injured. 75,780 people were evacuated from the disaster areas," informed the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) of Turkey.
An earthquake, with a magnitude of 7.7, was recorded Monday at 4:17am local time in Pazarcik region near Kahramanmaras, Turkey. There were 42 aftershocks, the strongest of which was 6.6 in magnitude. Later, another quake was recorded in the area—and with a magnitude of 7.5.
Seven days of mourning have been declared in Turkey.
