There are certain ambiguities with the current situation but Armenian and Russian relations remain allied, Russian Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Armenia Sergey Kopyrkin told Sputnik Armenia.

He recalled that Russian presidential press secretary Peskov had made this clear recently.

"There are difficulties, we see them in the political sphere, in the sphere of regional security. There are statements of the Armenian leadership criticizing the Russian peacekeeping contingent. Of course, we are not happy about this; we do not think it is right to criticize publicly, considering the role of Russia in maintaining the stability and security of Armenia, Nagorno-Karabakh and the region as a whole.  Nevertheless, the current situation shows that our relations have a strong pivot and very good potential," Kopyrkin said.

According to his assessment, economic relations are very dynamic and the indicators are increasing. "Armenia plays a very good role in the development of the Eurasian Economic Union," the ambassador added.
