Swiss bank Credit Suisse has blocked Russian assets worth over $19 billion (17.6 billion Swiss francs), a third of all declared Russian assets in Switzerland, the newspaper SonntagsZeitung reports.
Of the amount blocked by the bank, only 4.32 billion belong to people previously included by the Swiss authorities in the sanctions list. The remaining $14.7 billion belong to individuals subject to sanctions in other countries.
In addition, Credit Suisse has frozen funds of the Russian Central Bank. Russian businessman and billionaire Viktor Vekselberg is also on the list of individuals sanctioned by the Swiss bank.
