YEREVAN. – Armenian President Serzh Sargsyan received on Saturday Mark Horton, the International Monetary Fund’s (IMF) newly appointed Head of Mission in Armenia, and Guillermo Tolos, the IMF’s Resident Representative in Armenia. During the meeting, the interlocutors discussed the main directions of economic policy as well as the steps toward, and prospects of, Armenia’s economic development.
Mark Horton introduced to the President the course of the IMF’s “Extended Financing” and “Extended Credit” 3-year program, and the results IMF mission’s visit to Armenia, the Presidential Press Office informed Armenian News.NEWS.am.
“The mission was last in Armenia in March, and, I must say, the situation is quite different now, in comparison with March. At the time inflation was soaring very rapidly. But seeing how quickly the inflation rate is dropping, now I believe there is not much need to speak about inflation. You were able to respond quickly, and add to this the positive developments in agriculture, I therefore congratulate you on that occasion,” Mark Horton noted.
