Russia continues to assist the preparation of a peace treaty between Armenia and Azerbaijan. Maria Zakharova, the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry, announced this at Friday’s press briefing.
"We continue to provide assistance to our partners, about which we inform you all the time. Useful contacts, visits took place recently. Igor Khovaev, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov’s special representative for the normalization of Armenian-Azerbaijani relations, left for Yerevan and Baku," said Zakharova.
According to her, both the Armenian and Azerbaijani parties have confirmed that they are interested in Russia's mediation.
"Given the sensitivity of the subject of the [peace] treaty, I will not present details of the consultations. I can once again confirm the readiness to organize another meeting of the [Armenian and Azerbaijani] foreign ministers on this issue in Moscow," added the official representative of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
