About ten thousand people live in houses with the maximum risk of collapse in an earthquake. The deputy secretary general of Istanbul's city hall, Bugra Gökçe, told the Demiroren news agency.

"The 318 buildings in the city, where about 10,000 people live, are at risk of instant collapse," Gökçe said of the situation in Istanbul.

According to him, the class of these buildings is not even in the lowest class E. Meanwhile, another 1,525 buildings in the major Turkish city are in the lowest classes D and E.
