Budapest plans to start importing 1-2 billion cubic meters of gas a year from Azerbaijan by the end of 2023, said the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary. This was announced by the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Economic Relations of Hungary Peter Szijjártó, TASS agency wrote.

"We expect to receive about 100 million cubic meters of Azerbaijani natural gas by the end of the year", said the head of the Hungarian foreign ministry.

At that, the Minister noted that in order to receive supplies from Baku it is necessary to increase the capacity of gas pipelines in the region and Hungary counts on financial assistance of the European Union (EU) in this matter.

Szijjártó also reported on the participation of Hungarian companies in the restoration of areas of Azerbaijan affected by the military conflict with Armenia over Nagorno-Karabakh.
