Telegram channel MMI reported that as of mid-February 2023, Russia's budget expenditures since the beginning of the year reached 4.92 trillion rubles, and revenues - 951 billion rubles. This forms a deficit of almost 4 trillion rubles. MMI refers to the operational data of the single portal of the budget.

The annual plan for the budget deficit is 2.9 trillion rubles, or 2% of Russia's gross domestic product (GDP). This was previously stated by Finance Minister Anton Siluanov.

According to MMI's post, in January the budget spent an average of 100.5 billion rubles per day, in February the daily spending increased to 113 billion rubles. If the level of daily spending is reduced to 100 billion rubles and the revenue plan is fulfilled at the end of this year, the deficit could be over 10 trillion rubles, the post said.

At the same time, analysts believe it is too early to talk about the situation with budget revenues in Russia, the conclusion will be possible not earlier than at the end of the quarter.

However, the Central Bank earlier noted that increased budget expenditures are one of the main factors that may lead to tightening of monetary policy of the regulator and raising of the key rate from the current level of 7.5% per annum.
