Six people died after new earthquakes in southeastern Turkey, the disaster management agency (AFAD) said.

"294 citizens, 18 of whom were in serious condition, were taken for treatment by medical units at various hospitals in the surrounding area," the department added.

Two earth tremors with magnitudes of 6.4 and 5.8 occurred in Khatay province the day before with a time interval of three minutes. This is one of the most seriously affected regions of the country by the devastating earthquakes in early February.

Overnight, 6,000 tents were sent to the region for the affected people.
