Developments around Lachin in recent days are inspiring, said Toivo Klaar, EU Special Representative for the South Caucasus and the crisis in Georgia, in a conversation with Azatutyun.

Asked if there is any agreements after his visit in Washington and announcement that Armenian-Azerbaijani talks will be held in Brussels soon, Toivo Klaar noted that are no deadlines, but yes, of course, we are working in this direction, and that is why he is here in Yerevan.

He noted that there is an aspiration that the meeting will be held within the leaders of the country.

According to him, it is very important to activate the Brussels process, because both President Michel and him personally see its importance and attach great importance to it.

Talking about the Lachin corridor blockage, he noted that there have seen some interesting developments in the last few days. And there are already reports of electricity and gas being restored.

"And in this context, I am full of hope that maybe things are going in the right direction. The European Union has consistently advocated unblocking the situation. We have had various contacts, both behind the scenes and in public.

"And in general, we firmly believe that the most important thing is for the population of Karabakh, local Armenians to feel safe in the place where they live, and for this it is important that a real dialogue between Baku and Stepanakert begins. And this is the way to move forward, to involve people, to inspire confidence, to make them feel safe for the future in the place where they live," he noted.
