Director General of the International Organization for Migration, Antonio Vitorino, visited Baku, met with the president of Azerbaijan, and made rather dubious statements.

According to APA, at the meeting with President Ilham Aliyev, Vitorino "emphasized the importance of the first state program of the Great Return for the liberated territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and stated that the International Organization for Migration can assist this process."

Meanwhile, the above-mentioned program of the Azerbaijani authorities includes the Azerbaijani-occupied territories of Nagorno-Karabakh; for example, Shushi and Hadrut. Moreover, in accordance with point 7 of the tripartite statement of the leaders of Russia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan on November 9, 2020, “Internally displaced persons and refugees shall return to the territory of Nagorno Karabakh and adjacent regions under the control of the Agency of the UN High Commissioner for Refugees.”

In other words, the aforesaid program itself is illegal. It turns out that the head of a prestigious international organization supports the occupation of Armenian territories and the implementation of an obviously illegal program.

According to Haqqin.az, Antonio Vitorino pointed out to Aliyev that he "appreciates the financial contributions of Azerbaijan as a new donor country to the budget of the organization." Thus, all previous questionable statements become clear.
