The part on German Chancellor Olaf Scholz's statement about the right to self-determination of the people of Artsakh (Nagorno-Karabakh) is not on the website of the German government.

In particular, the statement released by the press service of the German government first talks about the exchange of opinions between Olaf Scholz and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan on the deepening of bilateral relations between the two countries.

"During the joint negotiations at the office, the process of reforms in Armenia, Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine, and the settlement of the long-standing conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan were discussed," the statement reads.

Then there is talk about the high assessment given by the German chancellor to the "comprehensive reform process initiated by Pashinyan in his country."

And only after that follows the part related to Olaf Scholz's statement regarding Artsakh.

"Another subject of discussion is Russia's aggressive war against Ukraine. Scholz reminded that it had a significant impact on Armenia and the entire South Caucasus region. Against this background, it is even more important for Armenia and Azerbaijan to resolve their conflict step by step. The extreme humanitarian situation in Nagorno-Karabakh, in particular, is unacceptable and must be ‘quickly brought to a viable solution for the benefit of those there,’ Scholz said.

“The chancellor explained his position, according to which the peaceful settlement of the dispute can be achieved on the basis of the principle of territorial integrity of Armenia and Azerbaijan. Therefore, Germany strongly supports the efforts of the President of the European Council, Charles Michel, and sends German representatives to the European Union mission in Armenia," noted the statement posted on the website of the German government.
